Covenant Service
At the start of the year, Judith Ley from Manx Radio's Praise! joined us in our annual Covenant Service. From the earliest days of the Methodist societies, John Wesley invited the Methodist people to renew their covenant relationship with God. We stand in that tradition and in the Covenant Service we have the opportunity to recommit ourselves to God, as followers of Jesus Christ.
You can listen to highlights of the service led by our minister, Revd David Shirtliff, with a guest appearance from Percy the Puffin.

This District event aims to inspire and encourage you to think about new ways of doing church and reaching our communities with relevant worship and events. It is especially suitable fo local preachers, church stewards, children's workers and all with a passion for the future of the church.
The day is led by Revd Pete Pillinger, a leader in the Fresh Expressions Network. He has been a Methodist Minister for 25 years and currently lives in Lincoln where he has led one church to become a cell church, and another in the development of a multi-media café church.

Walk and Talk: 12th May, 21st May
The Walk and Talk Group meet approximately fortnightly on different nights of the week, between May and early September. It is a chance to have a chat as you walk through some of the wonderful Manx scenery. Walks tend to be around 3 miles, but the pace is very, very gentle. Everyone is most welcome, from little children all the way up.

Christian Aid Week: 13th - 19th May
This year the Christian Aid committee of Churches Together in Mann has decided that funds raised on the Island during the week will go to support a project in Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere with a life expectancy of just 50 years. Poverty is especially acute in the rural areas, with two-thirds of Haitians dependent on agriculture, mainly small-scale subsistence farming.
A Christian Aid partner called Veterimed, founded by professional vets in 1991, aims to increase dairy production through improved feed and veterinary care; by bringing farmers together; and by transforming milk into other products like yogurt & sterilised milk - and then marketing them throughout Haiti to boost family incomes, and incidentally reducing dependence on imports. Their yogurts are already a commercial success.
We aim to raise a record £42,000 from the Island's public this Christian Aid Week, and it will be will once again be matched, pound for pound, by the IoM Government's Overseas Aid Committee. The government's doubling of a donation made during CA Week is a real incentive - just available for the week, so this is the time to do it.

Praying the Keeills: 19th - 26th May
Keeill sites and remains of keeills are at the heart of the Manx landscape, representing a tangible link with our Christian heritage. By waterfalls, on the cliff tops and in the wooded stillness of the glens, holy men built their keeills as the focus of lives dedicated to prayer and contemplation. We need to rediscover something of that life of prayer and contemplation. We need to rediscover stillness as we wait to hear the voice of God in the clamour of our world.
The Praying the keeills' website has a .pdf leaflet with all of the events, and a .pdf prayer book of Celtic prayers, readings and reflections.
