The Loch Parade Society merged with that of Victoria Street Methodist Church (right) and was later joined by members of Marathon Road Methodist Church. We stand in a strong tradition of Methodism which goes back to John Wesley's first visit to the island in 1777 and has been an important part of island life since those days.
The Promenade Church building incorporates Junior Church and Youth Accommodation in the Basement; Sanctuary and Vestry on the Ground Floor; Kitchen, Gallery/Coffee Lounge and Meeting Room on the Mezzanine Floor; and Hall with Stage at the Upper level. Additionally, the Churches Bookshop is incorporated into the premises and has a separate entrance onto Howard Street.
Many thousands of people from almost every corner of the globe have passed through our doors since 1976. Winter and Summer alike there is a great variety of activities held in the building throughout the week and the Coffee Lounge has provided a very welcome place to meet old friends and make new ones. The large cross, illuminated at night, is a landmark visible for many miles, especially out to sea.
