Prayer Vigil for Zimbabwe 2 Dec 07

The nation of Zimbabwe is in a desperate state: rampant inflation, basic services broken down, massive unemployment, four million at risk of starvation. Will you join us in praying for the nation of Zimbabwe and its people? There will be a prayer vigil here at the Promenade Methodist Church on Friday 7th December from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then from 5 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Come when you can, go when you must. In addition to praying, there will be opportunity to give to Tearfund's emergency appeal for Zimbabwe.

Kemmyrk - homelessness charity update 2 Dec 07

The new homelessness charity, Kemmyrk, is now close to being officially registered; there have been delays in the Attorney General's Office. Mrs. Fiona Robinson has been appointed as the island's Homelessness Project Officer and she will begin work in January. Premises to provide a night-shelter for 6 months have been identified in Harris Terrace. If planning permission is granted then these could be up and running within a few weeks, providing night sleeping accommodation for 8 - 10 people, male and female.
