Lenten Collections 9 Feb 08

There will be the opportunity to give freewill offerings on the following Sundays:

On the 17th February, Education Sunday Service, the collection will be towards the "Student Hardship Fund". The IoM Methodist District Social Responsibility Committee requests we support this Fund which assists students at IoM College. It prevents students having to give up studies for financial reasons. This Fund depends solely on charitable gifts and fund raising by College Students.

On 9th March, the collection will be for the Cafod 2008 Lent Appeal. The money raised on the IoM this year will go towards the HIV/AIDS Project in Zambia, where one sixth of the population is HIV-positive. Cafod 2008 Lent Appeal is supported by Churches Together in Mann Christian Aid and World Development Committee and the IoM Government will be matching the monies raised pound for pound.

Lent Courses 1 Feb 08

Many of us find prayer difficult at some times and it is then that we can take our inspiration from the Bible. This year, there are a couple of Lent Courses running. At St Ninian's they are running the same course twice, once in the evening and repeated during the day. Mondays 7.30 p.m. and Tuesdays 10.30 a.m. at St Ninian's new church centre. At the Salvation Army Citadel, the course is on the Lord's Prayer - praying it, meaning it, living it. This year's Lent course is to help pray and live out the Lord's Prayer. Fridays 7-9pm at the Salvation Army Citadel.
